First & Only Patronage of Chicken King

This is another late post but it's about food this time.

Orchid Live Seafood has opened its first fastfood restaurant named Chicken King. It is located at 190 Toa Payoh Central, #01-530 and I went to try with my colleagues on a weekday evening

The restaurant could only accommodate about 30 people and note that spaces are really tight. We had to wait for about 15 minutes before we got a table.

Here's what we ordered to share.

Fried Squid

This is actually one of the best dishes we had in the restaurant. It is an enjoyable and appetisiing side dish. Crispy, a little spicy and sour.

 Fried Popcorn Chicken with Rice & Salted Egg Yolk Popcorn Chicken with Rice

These 2 are the main dishes that reminded me of KFC's RIce Bucket which tastes better. Underneath the popcorn chicken is the buttery fried rice which is only a little fragrant.

Disappointing maybe because I was expecting too much.

Prawn Paste Chicken, Fries with Yam Sauce & Fries with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce

I was expecting the fries to be served separately from the sauces but they were poured in which made the fries became soggy. Worst of all, these 2 buckets of fries were on the counter top for at least 10 minutes before they were on our table. Imagine double the sogginess, fries just can't taste great. 

 Easily, the Prawn Paste Chicken taste better than the fries.

I have forgotten to take a photo of their famous Steven Chicken which we did order. As for the taste, it is similar to Orchid Live Seafood.

I wouldn't patronize Chicken King again for the prices I am paying. I would very much rather travel to their main restaurant Orchid Live Seafood.
